Samuel "Lope" Colotis Williams

November 1, 1944 — October 26, 2015

Samuel Clodis "Lope" Williams, the seventh child of Mary Alice and Eddie Thomas (Bill) Williams, was called home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2015, at the age of 70.
A native son of Somerville, Tennessee and resident of Memphis, Samuel served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War between 1965 and 1967. He was employed by the IBM Corporation, where he retired after 30 years of service. Following his early retirement, Samuel worked as a maintenance mechanic for the Horseshoe Casino.
An avid outdoorsman, Samuel was once quoted as saying: “You might say that I was the wild one in the family.” Throughout his life he owned five motorcycles, four two-seat roadsters, three boats, and three motor homes. He was a member of a motorcycle club for eight years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved working with his hands, and being quite the handyman, family and friends often called upon him to fix things. Never one to follow the crowd, Samuel had a humorous and quirky personality that amused his family. He lived life on his own terms, on his own time, and he will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Samuel is survived by a daughter, Kim Wurapa, and son, Samuel Branch; grandchildren Ryan and Jade Wurapa; son-in-law Anson Wurapa; sister, Annie Pitts; brothers Haward, Curtis, Lee, Rayfield, Wayne (Patricia), and Cleophus Williams (Terry); dozens of nieces and nephews, cousins, and cherished friends
